"I'm from Isghard. What more do you need to know?"
Uriel is a secretive man, sharing little of himself with others. He has gone through extensive lengths to conceal his identity, leaving little room to speculate on what his role within the old government was. Wherever he went surely meant someone or something was to be put to the torch. Regardless from being rarely seen, he seems to be a well educated man that is well versed in the history and political climate of Ishgard with little care for whatever is happening beyond Coerthas.
How he ended up a ward of House Liautroix is as shrouded in mystery as are other details about his life. He has been seen on occasion stalking about the Liautroix Manor yards or following around specific members of the family. Whatever he had done prior to his tenure as a ward matters not to him, for he sees himself only as a humble guard these days.

For those who work with The Vault they would know the name "Uriel de Laroux" was an alias name. To whom it truly belongs to appears to have been expunged from all records. Most of the records he had were apparently destroyed intentionally, holes burned into the papers to remove information while others only have containers of ash.
A rarely seen face prior to the end of the Dragonsong War. He has come up in passing before, but only in fleeting moments under orders originating somewhere in The Vault. When he did emerge from The Vault on a mission, it was usually with an escort from the Heavens' Ward, leaving few who would question him.
The Bringer of Fire could have potentially torched something one held dear. Person or place, none are free from his purging flames so long as the proper order was given.
